Acting Chief Executive Officer for Visitor Services

Mr. Cassil joined the Architect of the Capitol in December 2006 as the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer. In that role, he was responsible for the effective management of the primary administrative functions supporting AOC operations. In April 2010, he was named Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Visitor Services at the Capitol Visitor Center. In July 2010, he was appointed Acting Chief Executive Office for Visitor Services.

Mr. Cassil served over 20 years as an officer in U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993. His military career included service as a Field Artillery Officer, Personnel and Administration Officer, Information Technology Manager, and Acquisition Program Manager. His military assignments included service in the 25th Infantry Division, the Army Recruiting Command, the Army Computer Systems Command, and the Army Military Personnel Command. He completed his military career at the Pentagon as a Program Manager on the DoD Joint Staff from 1990-1993.

Mr. Cassil's 18-year federal civilian career includes service in project, technology and personnel management positions for the General Services Administration (GSA), the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, and the U.S. Army. Prior to joining the AOC, Mr. Cassil served as an Acquisition Program Manager in GSA where his responsibilities included providing acquisition and program management support for over $650 million in GSA technology contracts supporting the Army throughout the U.S. and Europe.

Mr. Cassil holds a graduate degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University and is a graduate of the U.S. Armed Forces Staff College. He also holds a professional certification as Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
