The first Senate Office Building (now named the Russell Building) appears to the left of the Capitol; its First Street wing would not be added until 1933. The House Office Building (now the Cannon Building) is to the right of the Capitol. The first Library of Congress building (later named for Thomas Jefferson) is behind the Capitol. The U.S. Botanic Garden's first conservatory is in front of the Capitol, to the right of the circular fountain.
