Construction progress on the CVC roof deck can be seen in this aerial view taken October 18, 2004. Crews placed more than 115,000 granite paving stones on the western half of the plaza by this time. Steel decking and concrete covered most of the central portion of the roof deck, and the first concrete deck slab was in place above the Congressional Auditorium (center foreground). The truck tunnel work is no longer visible from an aerial viewpoint, due to the completion of the final two-inch topping surface and the continuation of backfilling in the area above the tunnel. |
