This view of the Capitol and the East Capitol Grounds was taken at the end of March, 2005. At this time, most of the work on the CVC was occurring below the roof deck on all three levels of the facility. This included the fireproofing of all steel elements, the installation of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and erection of interior masonry block work. In addition, the installation of marble and sandstone blocks began on the lower level of the CVC. Above ground, all of the four skylights near the face of the Capitol were put in place. Meanwhile, a crane was used to remove some of the temporary cover panels on one of the two large skylights in the center of the plaza (center of photo) to facilitate the installation of the glass panel anchoring system within the skylight’s sandstone border.
