AOC Library Buildings and Grounds, under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol (AOC), is responsible for the day-to-day structural, mechanical and grounds care of the Library of Congress. This includes the Library's three buildings on Capitol Hill and a number of facilities beyond Washington, D.C., including The Packard Campus of the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center in Culpepper, Virginia. This division is led by Superintendent Greg Simmons.
AOC Library Buildings and Grounds is comprised of a variety of skills and trades including the operation of the air conditioning, electrical, elevator, fire/electronics, masonry, painting and refinishing, plumbing, sheet metal, mechanical, and landscaping design and maintenance.
These skilled tradespersons work behind the scenes providing services to the Library that include: ensuring a safe and comfortable indoor environment; preserving historic structures; maintenance, repair, and construction; and landscape design, planting, and grounds maintenance.
