American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial Site Preparations

Pepco Pedestrian Plan [1]
PEPCO Construction – Phase One [2]
March 2013 - Spring 2013

Please add five to ten additional minutes for commute.

Preparations are underway, near 2nd St and Washington Ave SW, for the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial (http://www.avdlm.org/) [3]. AOC is currently working north of the site (near Bartholdi Park) and west (along 2nd Street SW) to install cabling that will be displaced by the Memorial. District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin realigning the streets in the area to accommodate the Memorial footprint early spring 2013. Memorial construction is planned for fall 2013. Street closures are expected during the memorial construction and will be shared when available.

Update: March 28 — The AOC is working on the I-295 onramp until mid-April. PEPCO continues work on National Park Service land between 2nd Street, C Street and Washington Avenue until May. Additional 2nd Street detours between C and D Streets SW are in place. For safety reasons, pedestrian traffic patterns will be adjusted (see image at right). Future foot traffic patterns will be communicated as work continues.

See project on map. [4]
