The Architect of the Capitol's Sustainability, Energy and Water Conservation Division is pleased to report that the AOC achieved and exceeded our annual energy reduction goal for FY 2012! This year’s goal was 21 percent and the AOC reduced its energy consumption by 22 percent. Our FY 2012 results avoided $2.7 million in utility expenses. This is the sixth year the AOC met this goal, which was set by the Energy Independence and Security Act. We'll release a full report detailing the AOC’s efforts later this year. (You can read our past energy reports here.)

At the AOC, we strive to focus on energy and sustainability efforts in a cost effective manner to maintain efficient, high-performing, and healthy buildings across the Capitol.

Moving forward, we plan to increase our energy efficiency by further challenging ourselves to harness the power of technological advancements while always working to support the balance between preservation and modernization.
