Saturday, April 13, 10 a.m. to 2 pm. — The U.S. Botanic Garden's plant collection dates back to the U.S. Exploring Expedition of 1838-42. Three of the original plants from this expedition can still be seen on display in the Conservatory! Commanded by Lieutenant Charles Wilkes, this expedition took scientists and sailors on six ships to explore the seven seas. These explorers collected living plants, pressed specimens and cultural artifacts from around the globe. Join the USBG as we celebrate both the history of the Garden and this historic voyage. Designed with activities and events for all ages, this is a celebration not to be missed!
