Put the Rotunda in Your Pocket

Friday, July 31, 2015

Knowing that the U.S. Capitol Rotunda would be closed to visitors between July 27 and September 7 to prepare for restoration, the Capitol Visitor Center began in January to develop a Rotunda app that allows visitors to:

  • Take a virtual tour of the Rotunda with the help of 360-degree imaging
  • Learn about each of the sculptures and paintings in the Rotunda
  • Explore up close the fresco painting on the Rotunda ceiling
  • Learn about the types of ceremonies that occur in the Rotunda
  • Discover how the Rotunda was used as a hospital
  • Find out about the Capitol Dome Restoration Project
  • …and much more.

The Capitol Visitor Center is pleased to announce that a Rotunda app is now available to download using the buttons below. Links to the Rotunda app and others can also be found on the Capitol Visitor Center apps page.

Available on the App Store Android App on Google Play
