Repair of Southeast Stairwell in Russell Building

Monday, November 23, 2015

From November 23 through March 2016, the Architect of the Capitol will be performing plaster repair work in the southeast stairwell of the Russell Building. This effort will require the installation of scaffold within the stairwell.

Scaffold assembly will begin on Monday, November 23, and last through Friday, December 11. During this period, the southeast stairwell, which serves all floors, will close each night at 8:00 p.m., and will reopen each morning after 5:00 a.m. All levels of the stairwell will remain accessible through covered walkways under the scaffolding, built for the safety of the Senate community.

Should the Senate be in session during this period, this work will be rescheduled.
