Architect of the Capitol

 

In order to ensure the safety of visitors and staff and to preserve the collections, facilities and historic buildings and grounds some items are prohibited at the Capitol. Before entering the Capitol, all visitors are screened by a magnetometer and all items that are permitted inside the building are screened by an x-ray device.

A visitor with a verified meeting or appointment inside the Capitol (i.e., official business visitors) may exceed the standard maximum bag size if the item is necessary to conduct his or her business. USCP discretion shall be used in each case, with all bags subject to thorough search and security screening.
