Spirit of '76 Programs

Join us for our special exhibit "Spirit of '76" and onsite programs to discover how Congress and the nation have marked milestone anniversaries of the Declaration of Independence.

  • Family Programs, Mondays and Saturdays, 11 a.m.
    • Families explore a cartoon map of Philadelphia and make their own souvenir postcards.
  • Curator's Talk, Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.
    • Join a Curator-led tour of the special exhibit. 
  • Object Spotlight, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. 
    • Take a closer look at an object that tells the story of America in 1926.
  • Seen on Screen, Thursdays, 1 p.m. 
    • Watch a silent film of Washington, D.C., 100 years ago and compare it to today.
  • Mapping Histories, Friday, 11 a.m.
    • Learn about the emerging interstate highway system in 1926.

Capitol Conversations

Every Wednesday join us online for Capitol Conversations. This month's conversations dive into Capitol stamps, Native American women in Capitol art and more! Be sure to join us on June 17 for special guest Dr. Michele Cohen, the Architect of the Capitol's Curator. She will discuss the jeweled version of Magna Carta, a 1976 bicentennial gift from the United Kingdom.

Join a specialty tour for a fresh perspective on the Capitol — explore the Senate's historic halls or enjoy the U.S. Capitol Grounds before the season ends.

Outdoor Tours

  • When: Monday-Saturday at 11 a.m.
  • Where: Meet your guide outside the north entrance of the Capitol Visitor Center
