ABOUT THE COVER
The cover image captures the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, highlighting its stonework, sculptural details, and central fresco. Completed under the direction of Charles Bulfinch in 1824, the Rotunda features sandstone walls with fluted Doric pilasters, carved olive branch wreaths, and classical figures encircling the Dome’s interior. Overhead, Constantino Brumidi’s Apotheosis of Washington crowns the Dome 180 feet above the floor, symbolizing the nation’s ideals through art and allegory. The Dome’s classic details and craftsmanship inspired the design elements featured throughout this year’s report.
