The closures of the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) and the Conservatory of the United States Botanic Garden (USBG) mentioned below have been extended until further notice.
March 12, 2020
Out of an abundance of caution, the CVC and the Conservatory of the USBG will temporarily close to the public
until April 1, 2020, to reduce the risk of transmitting the coronavirus (COVID-19). The outdoor gardens and grounds remain open.
Whenever possible, the CVC and the USBG will reschedule public programs and events originally scheduled during the closure period. Please monitor the CVC and the USBG websites for updates to operating statuses. The public can still access many resources online, including educational worksheets and manuals, fact sheets and more.
The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) continues to aggressively combat the current COVID-19 threat on the Capitol campus. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. AOC is actively monitoring the situation and responding to Capitol campus needs based on the latest information from the Attending Physician, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other medical experts. The AOC continues to take steps to prepare for an outbreak. These include additional hand sanitizer stations and increased cleaning of public spaces and high-touch areas.
We appreciate your cooperation and apologize for the inconvenience as we do our part to help combat the spread of COVID-19. We look forward to welcoming you on campus soon.
