Work to stabilize façade elements at the Thurgood Marshall Federal Judiciary Building has begun.

Thurgood Marshall, constructed in 1992, is faced in a stone veneer that is deteriorating. The Architect of the Capitol and the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts have mutually approved a targeted, risk-based approach that prioritizes waterproofing and façade stabilization, especially around the areas nearest to public walkways.

To support the work, the south sidewalk on F Street, NW, and Columbus Circle sidewalk adjoining Thurgood Marshall will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the project. The north sidewalk on F Street, NW, and west sidewalk on Columbus Circle will remain open.

Signage will be placed directing pedestrians to open sidewalks which are ADA accessible and not impacted during this work.

The project is estimated to be complete spring 2026.
