Johnny Cash Statue

Singer and songwriter John R. "Johnny" Cash (1932-2003) was a towering figure in 20th-century American music. Arkansas gave this statue to the National Statuary Hall Collection in 2024. Before this commission, artist Kevin Kresse worked on a bust of Cash for a series of sculptures depicting Arkansas musicians.

Jonathan Trumbull Statue

This statue of Jonathan Trumbull was given to the National Statuary Hall Collection by Connecticut in 1872.

Joseph Ward Statue

This statue of Joseph Ward was given to the National Statuary Hall Collection by South Dakota in 1963.

Joseph Wheeler Statue

This statue of Joseph Wheeler was given to the National Statuary Hall Collection by Alabama in 1925. Wheeler was a cavalry leader in the Civil War before serving in the House of Representatives.

Justinian I, Relief Portrait

Justinian I (c. 483-565) Byzantine emperor. Appointed Tribonian to compile and consolidate the Roman legal code into the Justinian Code, which he supplemented with a collection of rulings and precedents.

Kamehameha I Statue

This statue of King Kamehameha I was given to the National Statuary Hall Collection by Hawaii in 1969. Under his rule, he unified all of the islands of Hawaii. The statue of King Kamehameha I is the heaviest in the collection.

Land Grant College

This college building in Kansas was one of the first created under the 1862 Morrill Act, which was meant to ensure higher education for all classes of Americans.

Landing of Columbus

This painting depicts Christopher Columbus and members of his crew on a beach in the West Indies, newly landed from his flagship Santa Maria on October 12, 1492.

Christopher Columbus disembarks from the Santa Maria on a plank, greeted by Native Americans. This is the first of four scenes of Spanish conquest. Brumidi's central figure seems to have been inspired by a statue of Columbus by Luigi Persico, which was then at the east central steps of the Capitol. (1492)
