Major Projects

The Ulysses S. Grant Memorial is regularly maintained to keep it in good condition.

The four clouds were lowered to the ground and fully assessed to ensure their structural integrity, including analysis against seismic design considerations. This project was completed in 2016.

The Architect of the Capitol continues to improve the accessible pathway for the Capitol campus.

The United States Botanic Garden (USBG) and Architect of the Capitol (AOC) have made improvements to provide a safe and accessible route from Bartholdi Park to the American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial and upgrade the aging infrastructure of the historic Park.

This restoration project entailed cleaning, repairing and restoring the Vermont marble of the cheek walls on either side of west steps, and the north, south and east façades of the Supreme Court Building.

The Russell Building is the oldest of the three Senate office buildings. In FY 2023, the AOC successfully completed the Russell Exterior Envelope Project, a multiyear restoration project to preserve and repair the exterior envelope of the century-old building.

The U.S. Capitol Visitor Center redesigned Exhibition Hall. Visitors can now encounter a dynamic and educational environment that will inform, involve and inspire them about Congress' role in the democratic process.

This project replaced trees at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) entry to recapture the historic design intent and restore the historic character and contributing features of the original Olmsted landscape within the context of the current landscape conditions.
