To properly restore the Olmsted Terrace, a six-phased project is underway by the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) to repair the masonry at the terrace walls.

The Architect of the Capitol's repair and renovation of the Summerhouse fountain and surrounding landscape is complete. Additional landscape improvements to the grotto and surrounding planting beds will continue into the spring of 2024.

The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) completed a Long Term Strategic Energy Plan for the Capitol Power Plant (CPP), which identified cogeneration as the preferred solution for achieving energy savings, reducing environmental impacts, and maintaining a reliable source of chilled water and steam for Congress and the Supreme Court.
In 2017 the Architect of the Capitol completed a long-term conservation effort to restore the murals of the Brumidi Corridors on the first floor of the U.S. Capitol's Senate wing.
As part of this project, completed in 2015, the AOC also installed a 148 kW photovoltaic system on the Hart Senate Office Building roof. The solar panels will decrease utility use, increase sustainability and make the building eligible for an energy credit program which will further reduce electrical costs.
